From SJS Organic Farm Trainee to Indigenous Microorganism Expert

In 2019, Husain Ninga joined the inaugural training program at SJS Organic Farm. Being part of the first batch of trainees, Husain's

passion for sustainable agriculture and indigenous microorganisms (IMO) quickly grew. His dedication led him to pursue further studies, earning a Master's Degree in Indigenous Microorganisms (IMO) at Nelson Mandela University in Arusha. This advanced knowledge allowed him to delve deeper into the world of IMO, exploring its potential to transform soil health and agricultural practices.

In a recent impact evaluation led by Fr. Alwyn and the SJS Organic Farm team, they visited Husain at his workplace in Arusha Jail. The results of his work were remarkable, showcasing how IMO can significantly enhance soil productivity and support ecological balance. Inspired by the positive feedback and the desire to give back, Husain returned to SJS Organic Farm to share his story and expertise.

During a 15-day training program for Local Service Providers (LSP), sponsored by Helvetas Tanzania, Husain delivered a powerful testimony of his journey and transformation. He demonstrated practical methods for producing IMO and emphasized its effectiveness in improving soil fertility. His story served as an inspiration to the LSP participants, illustrating the profound impact that passion and advanced knowledge can have on both personal growth and community transformation.

Husain's return to SJS Organic Farm is a testament to the center's vision of nurturing leaders in ecological agriculture who, in turn, support their communities. His journey is a shining example of how training and continuous learning can drive positive change in sustainable farming practices across Tanzania.
