Jeeth Roche, an environmentalist, guided the SJS Organic Farm team through the Miyawaki forest at Kanthavara Basecamp, showcasing dense, fast-growing native tree plantations. The team also visited the waste management plant at City Mall in Mangalore, India, observing sustainable waste disposal and recycling techniques. These experiences provided valuable insights into ecological restoration and urban sustainability. Inspired by Jeeth’s work, the team aims to implement similar eco-friendly practices in their own agroecological projects.

The SJS Organic Team, led by Director Fr. Alwyn D’Souza, visited Krishna Sudha Academy for Agroecology near Kondaparva, Andhra Pradesh, from January 6–8 (Monday to Wednesday) for training and exposure. They attended a lecture by Dr. Ramanjaneyulu and toured the 38-acre organic farm, observing biodiversity blocks, natural mulching, intercropping, and rainwater harvesting.

The team also explored biolabs for soil and seed testing, the incubation center for rural entrepreneurs, and the seed library preserving indigenous crops. A visit to the curated museum provided insights into India’s agricultural heritage. Inspired by the experience, they aim to apply these learnings to their own agroecological initiatives.
